In the history of American television, the broadcast of Super Bowl 50 by CBS was the third most-watched ever. There was an average viewer number of over one hundred eleven million. For a half-minute commercial throughout the duration of the game, the network charged five million dollars on average. Coldplay headlined the show during the halftime of Super Bowl 50. Bruno Mars and Beyonce were special performing guests as well.
The game of American Football that happened on Feb 7, 2016 is known as Super Bowl 50. This game occurred so that the NFL for the season of 2015’s champion could be determined. To earn their 3rd title for the Super Bowl, the Carolina Panthers were defeated by the Denver Broncos with a score of twenty-four to ten so that the title of Super Bowl could be earned. It was in Santa Clara California’s San Francisco Bay Area Levi Stadium on the seventh of February 2016 that the game was played. This was Super Bowl number fifty and it was emphasized by the league that various themed initiatives helped celebrate this golden anniversary. Roman numerals to indicate each game of the Super Bowl was suspended so that the Arabic number fifty was prominently featured rather than ‘Super Bowl L.’
The regular season was finished by the Panthers with a record fifteen to one. This racked up the top offense of the league. Cam Newton, quarterback was the top offense and was named MVP or most valuable player of the NFL. In the championship game of the NFC, The Panthers had defeated the Cardinals of Arizona with a score of forty-nine to fifteen. Thanks to having the top defense of the team the Broncos finished the season’s regular games with a record score of twelve to four. Peyton Manning was the starting quarterback of the league and defeated the New England Patriots champions of the Super Bowl in the game of AFC Championship. They joined the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys and Patriots as one of 4 teams that in the Super Bowl, have made a total of 8 appearances.
In Super Bowl 50, the Broncos enjoy a lead early in the game. This lead was maintained throughout with the Denver defense limiting Newton. Three turnovers and seven sacks were registered including fumbling with the Broncos and quick recovery for a touchdown. The defense of Carolina kept the teams’ scores close by holding the offense of Denver with zero touchdowns until later in the last quarter. Von Miller, the linebacker for Denver was named MVP of the Super Bowl. Five solo tackles was recorded by Millers along with two game forced fumbles and two and a half sacks. Kony Ealy was defensive end and in the history of the Super Bowl, became the first player to have three sacks and an interception.
To promote the game, ten statues with the theme of ‘50’ were put in various San Francisco spots. However, the city’s residents expressed some negativity and vandals taking over.
